Starting therapy can feel like a big step. It doesn't have to be. Here's what the first few sessions with us tend to look like, so you can know what to expect.

Before your first session

When you reach out, we'll connect briefly to understand what you're looking for and make sure we're a good fit. If we're not, we'll do our best to point you toward someone who is.

If we move forward, we'll schedule an initial session and send over any intake forms we need ahead of time.

The first session

The first session is mostly about getting to know each other. You'll share a bit about what brings you in — at whatever depth feels right — and we'll talk about how we might work together. There's no pressure to spill your whole story on day one.

The next few sessions

Early sessions tend to focus on building trust, identifying what matters to you, and finding a shared language for the work. Your clinician will ask questions, listen carefully, and offer reflections as they arise.

Ongoing work

Therapy is not a linear process. Some sessions feel productive and clear; others feel messy or quiet. All of it is part of the work. Most people meet weekly or every other week, shifting frequency as the work evolves.

Questions are welcome

At any point, you're welcome to ask questions about the process, the approach, or anything else. This is your work, and you deserve to understand how it's unfolding.
